Service Name

1990-1992 - Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair

Registered in December 1990, the Foundation commenced functioning in 1991 and gave away the first Prem Nazir Foundation Award for thr year of 1991 to Padmashree Sri. Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair who was a poet, playwright, script writer, lyricist, orator, film director and actor, for his outstanding contribution to the Malayalam film industry adjudged by an Award Selection Committee chaired by the renowned poet Shri. P. Bhaskaran

The function was held at the Tagore Centenary Hall in Thiruvananthapuram city at 6PM on 16th January 1992, the third death anniversary of Sri Prem Nazir. In addition to Sri Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair, the budding talents of 1991, Kalaprathibha V. S. Sagar and Kalathilakam Binduja Menon, were honoured. Prem Nazir Foundation Chairman Shri Thalekunnil Basheer welcomed all and Kerala State Assembly Speaker Shri P. P. Thankachan inaugurated the function. Honourable Minister for Culture Shri T. M. Jacob presided over. Honourable Minister for Education Shri E. T. Mohamed Basheer conferred the awards. Celebrities Shri, O .N. V. Kurup, Shri. Mohanlal, Shri. Nedumudi Venu and Shri. Madhu delivered felicitations. Vote of thanks by Shri. M. P. Kunju was followed by a Musical Evening when many promising and budding singers entertained the audience.

1993 - Vaikom Mohamed Basheer

The Second Prem Nazir Foundation Award for the year 1992 was bestowed on Shri Vaikom Mohammed Basheer, the renowned Malayalam Writer for his outstanding contribution to the Malayalam Literature and his exceptional Script for the Malayalam movie, Bhargavi Nilayam on the 16th January 1993. The award judging committe was chaired by eminent movie director Shri. Adoor Gopalakrisnan. Shri Thikkodiyan, Shri K. G. George, Dr. M. M. Basheer and Shri Kanai Kunjiraman were the other adjudging committee members.

The function was held at the Tagore Centenary Hall in Kozhikode city at 6PM on 16th January 1996. In addition to Shri Basheer, the winners of Kalathilakm and Kalaprathibha titles of 1992 were also honoured and presented with cash awards. Prem Nazir Foundation Chairman Shri Thalekunnil Basheer delivered the welcome speech. The Honorable Kozhikode City Mayor. Shri. T. P. Dasan presided over. Honourable Minister for Education Shri E. T. Mohamed Bsheer inagurated the function and gave away the Foundation Award. Prem Nazir Memorial speach was delivered by Shri. M. T. Vasudevan Nair. Celebrities and other prominent personalities like Shri.Mullappally Ramachandran, Shri. Amithab Kant, Shri. P. V. Gangadharan, Shri. P. Bhaskaran, Shri. K. P. Ummer, and Shri. 1994 - P. Bhaskaran

The third Prem Nazir Foundation Award for the year 1993 was bestowed on Shri P. Bhaskaran, the renowned Poet, lyricist, film director, actor, journalist of Kerala on the 16th January 1994, for his outstanding contribution to the literature and film industry

The award function was held at the Tagore Centenary Hall in Thiruvananthapuram city at 6PM on 16th January 1994. In addition to Shri P. Bhaskaran, the winners of Kalathilakm and Kalaprathibha titles of 1993, Kumari. B. Bhagyalaksmi and Shri. Murali M. Bhat were honoured. Prem Nazir Foundation Chairman Shri Thalekunnil Basheer delivered the welcome speech. Eminent writer Shri Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai presided over. The Honorable Kerala State Governor Shri B. Rachayyah inaugurated the function and gave away the Award To Shri. P. Bhaskaran. Shri. The fourth Prem Nazir Foundation Award for the year 1994 was bestowed on Shri K. J. Yesudas, the renowned Musician and singer of Malayalam Film Industry on the 16th January 1995, for his outstanding endowment to Music. The award judging committe was chaired by eminent movie director Shri. P. Bhaskaran. Shri Ndumudi Venu, Shri K. Jayakumar, shri. George Onakkur and Shri S. Bhasurachandran were the other adjudging committee members.

The function was held at the Tagore Centenary Hall in Thiruvananthapuram city at 6PM on 16th January 1996. In addition to Shri K. J. Yesudas, the winners of Kalaprathibha and Kala Thilakm titles of 1994, Shri. H. Pravin Das and Kumari. R. H. Archana were honoured. The fifth Prem Nazir Foundation Award for the year 1995 was bestowed on Shri Paravur Devarajan, the renowned Music Director of Malayalam Film Industry on the 16th January 1996, for his outstanding contribution to the Malayalam film industry

1997 - M. T. Vasudevan Nair

The sixth Prem Nazir Foundation Award for the year 1996 was conferred on Shri. M. T. Vasudevan Nair, the distinguished Malayalam writer on Thursday, the 16th January 1997, for his outstanding contribution to the Malayalam Literature and Film Industry. The function was organized jointly by Prem Nazir Foundation and General Committee for International Film Festival. The award judging committe was chaired by popular movie artist Shri. Madhu. Shri Soorya Krishnamoorthy, Shrimati. Shanthi Krisha, shri. George Onakkur and Shri S. Thalekunnil Basheer were the other adjudging committee members.

The function was held at the Tagore Centenary Hall in Thiruvananthapuram city at 6PM on 16th January 1997. The winners of Kala Prathibha and Kalathilakam titles and the male and female pass outs with highest marks from Swathithirunal Musical Academy, in 1996, were also honored. The tenth Prem Nazir Foundation Award for the year 2000 was bestowed on Shri Adoor Gopalakrishnan, the renowned Music Director of Malayalam Film Industry on the 16th January 2001, for his outstanding contribution to the Malayalam film industry The award judging committe was chaired by prominent writer Shri. Perumbadam Sridharan. Shri Syamaprasad, Shri. M. F. Thomas, Dr. M. R. Thamban and Shri. Thalekunnil Basheer were the other adjudging committee members.

The function was held at the University Senete Hall in Thiruvananthapuram city at 6PM on 16th January 2001. The winners of Kalaprathibha and Kalathilakam titles Shri. K. Dhanoop, Kumari Aparna K. Sharma and Kumari Anjali Krishna with the pass out with highest marks from Swathi Thirunal Musical Academy Kumari. M. P. Bindu, in 2000, were also honored. Prem Nazir Foundation Chairman Shri Thalekunnil Basheer welcomed all. Shri. P. Govindapillai, presided over. The Honorable Kerala Minister for Revenue, Shri. K. E. Ismail inaugurated the function.
